Otra conocida denominación es "Luna roja o Luna de Abril", conocida como "Luna Vieja en brazos de la Nueva", es la luz que la Tierra refleja hacia la Luna, y que ilumina ligeramente su parte oscura, ofreciéndonos una dramática imagen de la Luz Cenicienta en una joven Luna Creciente. Toda la reflectividad de la Tierra es debida principalmente al manto de nubes que la cubre y recientes estudios de este brillo indican que es más pronunciado en abril y mayo. También es conocida como la "Luna parca" o "la que trae la muerte" debido esto a algunas creencias, supertisciones, etc. que ligan a la Luna enrojecida cercana al horizonte, a malos presagios y muerte.
La Luna Llena del mes de Julio, es conocida también como la "Luna de agua miel", considerada así para algunas creencias del hemisferio norte, porque es cuando la fertilidad de la tierra a llegado al máximo, cuando el campo da su mejor fruto en las abundantes cosechas, así, el campesino brinda por esta Luna, que sería la séptima del año con agua miel, considerada como el elixir de los dioses.
Pero son tantos los nombres que diferentes pueblos dan a la Luna sea en su primer creciente o en Luna Llena, que es mejor presentar algunos de los mismos en forma de tabla. Van aquí según el mes del año, los nombres dados a la Luna Llena para el folklore americano y para los indios Ojibwa en primer término:

Huchuy Pucuy Quilla (Pequeña Luna Creciente), Enero, tiempo de ver el maíz en crecimiento.
Hatun Pucuy Quilla (Gran Luna Creciente), Febrero, tiempo de vestir taparrabos.
Pacha Pucuy Quilla (Luna de la Flor Creciente), Marzo, mes de maduración de la tierra.
Ayrihua Quilla (Luna de las Espigas Gemelas), Abril, mes de cosecha y descanso.
Aymoray Quilla (Luna de la Cosecha), Mayo, el maíz se seca para ser almacenado.
Haucai Cusqui Quilla (Luna de la Preparación), Junio, cosecha de patata y descanso, roturación del suelo.
Chacra Conaqui Quilla (Luna del Riego), Julio, mes de redistribución de tierras.
Chacra Yapuy Quilla (Luna de la Siembra), Agosto, mes de sembrar las tierras en medio de cantos de triunfo
Coia Raymi Quilla (Luna de la Fiesta de la Luna), Septiembre, mes de plantar.
Uma Raymi Quilla (Luna de la Fiesta de la Provincia de Uma), Octubre, tiempo de espantar a los pájaros de los campos cultivados.
Ayamarca Raymi Quilla (Luna de la Fiesta de la Provincia de Ayamarca), Noviembre, tiempo de regar los campos.
