Existe una cita maya de profundo contenido: IN LAK’ ECH A LAK’ EN (Tu eres yo y yo soy tú), pensamiento base para el desarrollo de este pueblo grandioso; se les trasmitía siempre desde muy pequeños por sus padres, generalmente lo hacían a través de dos ejemplos:
PRIMERO: Se les llevaba a las milpas de maíz y se les decía “Esta mazorca es producto del trabajo en conjunto de la tierra, el viento, el agua y la luz del sol; el comerla, una parte de cada cosa entra en ti”
SEGUNDO: Cuando estaban frente a otro niño de su misma edad les decían “Imagínate que él eres tú, que esos ojos son tus ojos, que esas manos son tus manos. ¿Le harías daño?”.
