Fenrir - Escandinavia
En la mitología nórdica Fenrir es uno de los tres monstruos que nacieron de la unión entre Loki (el dios Timador) y la gigante Angrboda. Se le representa como un lobo negro y hambriento,
Al principio sólo era un cachorro, pero conforme se le alimentó comenzó a crecer, y pronto fue tan grande que era imposible controlarlo. Dos veces fallaron los dioses en su intento por apresarlo, primero con la cadena Leding y luego con una más fuerte llamada Droma, pero de ambas se libero con sencillez.
Los dioses del Asgard pidieron la fabricación de una ligadura irrompible a los enanos, los cuales le fabricaron la Gleipnir, una cinta liviana, dulce, sedosa y fina, y que sin embargo nadie podría romper, ya que estaba hecha con los 6 maravillosos ingredientes.
Tyr ,el dios con cuernos, se ofreció a realizar la proeza de amarrar a Fenrir, el cual le corto la mano.
La razón de este encadenamiento es que los Ases, (principales dioses del panteón de la mitología nórdica )saben que será causante del fin del mundo. En el Ragnarok,(Batalla del fin del mundo) cuando rompa su prisión milenaria y se libere de sus cadenas, el fuego y el agua subterráneas invadirán la Tierra. Matará a Odín y será muerto por Vidar.
