El Jinete sin Cabeza - Escocia
La otra Hada Lavandera "documentada" se le apareció en 1538 a Ewen McLaine, un legendario caudillo escocés del distrito de Lochbuie, que dió origen a la leyenda del jinete sin cabeza que después Washington Irving adaptó para su cuento situado en Nueva Inglaterra: Owen, codiciando las riquezas de su padre se enemistó con él y fueron a la guerra.
Ewen en la víspera de la batalla encontró a un hada limpiando las camisas de los muertos, y al hacer la pregunta le contestó que sí, su camisa estaba entre la de los muertos del día siguiente...pero que si su mujer (sin ser advertida) le servía manteca en el desayuno se salvaría. La manteca en el desayuno escocés no era algo común, por lo que Ewen murió decapitado en la batalla contra su padre.
Ahora su espíritu sin cabeza cabalga vengativo por los campos como un presagio de la muerte próxima de alguno de los McLaine...
