El dragón (del latín draco, y éste del griego δρακον, drakon, ‘víbora’ o ‘serpiente’) es un animal mitológico que aparece en diversas formas en varias culturas de todo el mundo, con diferentes simbolismos asociados. Las interpretaciones más familiares de dragones son los europeos, derivados de la tradición popular y de la mitología de Grecia y Próximo Oriente, y también las de dragones chinos. Se ha creído que los dragones realmente existieron y/o existen basándose en que en cada cultura ha hablado de dichas criaturas desde mucho antes que tuvieran comunicación entre sí, sin embargo el hecho de que existan fósiles de dinosaurios en todo el mundo puede ser una explicación fiable para entender ese fenómeno. El mito de los dragones se fortaleció en la Europa medieval. La razón por la cual estos seres fantásticos han sido asociados con el mal, se debe en gran parte a leyendas, historia populares y al mito de Dracula, príncipe Vlad Tepes, Dracull o Dracula que en rumano significa dragón o demonio
